How to use eye shadow

Jan 31,2025

The steps of using eye shadow can be summarized as follows:

1. Primer and base color application: Before starting any eye makeup, apply eye primer products first. Select the eye base suitable for your skin color and apply it evenly on the entire eyelid, which can make eye shadow easier to color and more durable. Use light color eye shadow (such as beige, light brown) as the background color, apply it to the entire eye socket area (i.e. the concave part between the eyeball and eyelid) after gently dipping it with a eye shadow brush. This step provides a uniform basis for subsequent eye shadow coloring.

2. Overlay the middle color and transition: select the middle color eye shadow slightly darker than the background color, dip it with the eye shadow brush, and then gently smear it on the eyelid. Pay attention to starting from the base of the eyelashes and blending upwards to ensure a natural and smooth transition of color, avoiding obvious color blocks. If you want a richer sense of hierarchy, you can use different shades of colors in the same color scheme to overlay. First, use a light colored base, then deepen the folds of the eyelids with a medium color, and finally use a blending brush to transition the color more naturally.

3. Deepen eye tail and detail treatment: use dark eye shadow (such as dark brown, gray or black) to focus on the eye tail. Starting from the base of the eyelashes, blend towards the outer corner of the eye, gradually reducing the color and creating a natural gradient effect. This can increase the depth of the eyes. According to personal preferences and eye type characteristics, other eye shadow painting methods can be selected for detail processing. For example, using the forward displacement method to close the distance between the two eyes, or using the backward displacement method to elongate the eye shape. At the same time, pearl eye shadow can also be used to brighten the eyebrow bone or inner corner of the eye and increase the stereoscopic feeling of the eye.

The above are the basic steps of using eye shadow, but everyone's eye shape and preferences are different, so you can adjust and innovate according to your own characteristics in actual operation. With more practice, you can master the use skills of eye shadow and create beautiful and moving eye makeup.
