What is the difference between plug-in hybrid and hybrid

Jan 14,2025

The difference between plug-in hybrid and oil electric hybrid is as follows:

1. Driving mode and endurance:

Oil electric hybrid: mainly driven by a fuel engine, with the electric motor playing an auxiliary role, usually providing or recovering energy during starting, parking, acceleration, and deceleration. In pure electric mode, the range is very short, only a few kilometers.

Plug in hybrid: It can be charged from an external power source and mainly relies on electric power when the battery is fully charged. In pure electric mode, the range is longer, about 50 kilometers, and when the battery is depleted, it is mainly driven by a fuel engine.

2. Structure and power source:

Oil electric hybrid: The structure is relatively complex, and the motor is mainly used to assist in start stop and maintain electrical operation. The battery capacity is small and cannot be externally charged. The main source of power is gasoline.

Plug in hybrid: With a simple structure and two power systems, it can be charged from an external power source or generate electricity from oil like a hybrid. The power source is more flexible, and the battery is usually a lithium battery.

3. Vehicle nature and license plate:

Hybrid fuel electric vehicle: It belongs to energy-saving fuel vehicles and cannot be registered with a green license plate.

Plug in hybrid: Belonging to new energy vehicles, it can be registered with a green license plate and enjoy relevant policy benefits for new energy vehicles.
