New energy vehicle antifreeze replacement

Jan 03,2025

The steps for replacing antifreeze for new energy vehicles are as follows:

1. Preparation and inspection: Wait for at least 10 minutes after turning off the vehicle to ensure that the temperature of the antifreeze drops and avoid burns. Inspect the vehicle comprehensively, especially the cooling system pipes, to confirm that there are no leaks or cracks, and check the condition of the five way water pipes.

2. Discharge old fluid: Use a jack to safely lift the vehicle. Use a wrench to unscrew the screws on the bottom shell of the water tank, and place the waste liquid basin in a suitable position to receive the old antifreeze. Cover the expansion tank cover with a thick towel, slowly loosen it until the air pressure is released, and then completely remove the tank cover. Use a compressed air blow gun or thick towel to pressurize the water inlet of the expansion tank, and try to remove old antifreeze from the engine body as much as possible.

3. Cleaning and adding new fluid: Add an appropriate amount of softened water, start the engine and idle for 5 minutes to clean the interior of the cooling circulation system. Drain the cleaning water and check again if the pipeline is clean. Add new antifreeze to the upper limit of the water level, pay attention to selecting antifreeze suitable for new energy vehicles, and check its performance indicators such as freezing point and boiling point. Start the engine again and let it idle for 5 minutes, observe the coolant level mark, and if necessary, fill it up to the appropriate position.

matters needing attention:

During the entire replacement process, be sure to wear protective goggles and gloves to prevent splashing.

Ensure that all discharged old antifreeze is properly disposed of to avoid environmental pollution.

Regularly check the condition and liquid level of the antifreeze to ensure the normal operation of the cooling system.

If the antifreeze is found to have discoloration, deterioration, suspended solids, precipitation, etc., it should be replaced and the system cleaned in a timely manner.

The service life of some long-lasting antifreeze may be longer, but the specific replacement cycle still needs to refer to the recommendations of the vehicle manufacturer and the instructions of the antifreeze product.
