Why do new energy vehicles cause motion sickness

Dec 31,2024

1. Differences in acceleration and braking characteristics: New energy vehicles, especially electric vehicles, have faster acceleration response compared to traditional fuel vehicles due to their fast and smooth motor torque output. This rapid and uniform acceleration change may exceed the physiological adaptation range of some passengers, leading to motion sickness.

2. Differences in noise and vibration: During the driving process, electric vehicles have a relatively quieter interior environment due to the absence of the roar of the fuel engine. However, for passengers who are accustomed to the noise and vibration background of fuel vehicles, this sudden quietness and reduced vibration may make it easier for them to perceive subtle movements of the vehicle, leading to motion sickness.

3. Impact of energy recovery system: Many new energy vehicles are equipped with energy recovery systems, which convert some kinetic energy into electrical energy storage when the vehicle decelerates or brakes. During this process, the vehicle may experience a slight dragging or nodding sensation, which may affect the comfort and balance of passengers and increase the risk of motion sickness.
