How to install the CPU fan

Jan 26,2025

The installation steps of CPU fan can be summarized as follows:

1. Preparation stage: Confirm that the CPU has been correctly installed on the motherboard. Find the CPU fan and its accessories, including screws, base, wiring, etc.

2. Installation base: Align the fan base with the four mounting holes around the CPU on the motherboard. Gently lower the base and ensure that all four sides align with the holes on the motherboard. Use the built-in fixing device of the base (such as plastic nails or buckles) to secure the base to the motherboard. Pay attention to maintaining a seamless connection between the base and the motherboard, and ensure that the fan maintains a safe distance from other components on the motherboard to avoid mutual interference.

3. Connect power supply and fixed fan: Find the power cord for the CPU fan, which is usually a slender cable with one end connected to the fan and the other end being a plug. Find the CPU-FAN interface on the motherboard, which is usually located in the upper right corner or near the motherboard and is used to power the CPU fan. Insert the power cord plug of the CPU fan into the CPU-FAN interface on the motherboard, ensuring that the plug is tightly connected to the interface. Use the provided screws or other fixing devices to secure the fan to the base. Ensure that each screw is tightened, but avoid excessive force to prevent damage to the motherboard or fan.

After completing the above steps, the CPU fan has been successfully installed on the motherboard. At this point, you can turn on the fan to check if it is running properly and if there are any abnormal noises or vibrations. If any problems are found, the power should be turned off promptly and the installation should be checked for correctness.

Different brands and models of CPU fans may have slight differences in installation steps, so it is recommended to refer to the installation manual of the specific product for operation. Meanwhile, caution should be taken during the installation process to avoid damaging the motherboard or other hardware components.
