How to switch from a hybrid car to a BYD car

Jan 06,2025

The switching method of BYD hybrid vehicles may vary depending on different models, but generally can be carried out according to the following steps:

1. Start the vehicle: Ensure that the vehicle has been started. For BYD's hybrid models, such as plug-in hybrid vehicles like Qin and Tang, the default mode after startup may be HEV mode.

2. Find the switch button: For some models, such as the plug-in hybrid version of Qin and Tang, the switch button may be located on the left side of the steering wheel and labeled as the "Mode" button. For models such as the Song DM, it may be necessary to switch by shifting the gear lever from D to B to enter EV mode. Some models may also have a driving mode switch button on the center console, usually a small button with different icons.

3. Select mode: After pressing the "Mode" button, select the desired mode from the pop-up menu. For example, to switch to EV mode, select "EV". If using the gear lever to switch, shift the gear lever to B to enter EV mode, and shift it back to D to switch back to HEV mode. For models that switch through buttons on the center console, simply press the corresponding driving mode button.

be careful:

When switching modes, please ensure that the vehicle is in a safe state, such as a stopped state or low-speed driving.

In some cases, such as low battery power or high voltage system failure, the vehicle may not be able to switch to EV mode, and the system will automatically switch to HEV mode to maintain sufficient power.

Frequent mode switching may affect battery life and fuel efficiency, so it is recommended to choose and switch modes reasonably according to actual driving needs.
